My name is Rebecca, and I read quite a few books. I enjoy books in a wide range of genres, although my favourites would have to be pulpy action novels, war narratives and classics. I study History, English and Education at University and often find my reading directed by the topics I am studying that semester.
Some of my favourite books are Matterhorn by Karl Marlantes, All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, Perfume by Patrick Suskind, the Spider Shepherd series by Stephen Leather, and C.J. Box’s Joe Pickett series.

All Quiet on the Western Front is one of those books that’s perpetually on my TBR list. I need to just read that damn book, already.
I’m not well versed in the war genre, so I could use some recommendations. Are you into more modern stuff, or do you also like things like old school naval stuff too?
AQotWF is a long term favourite of mine – I read it for school and it was my introduction to my genre. My favourite war novel of all time is Matterhorn by Karl Marlantes – its Vietnam fiction written by a Vietnam vet who took 30 years and a lot of study to perfect and publish the book. I have yet to have anyone say they disliked it, and I rec it A LOT. I like some naval stuff – I read Cusslers and the like, if you want to try some modern naval stuff, Duncan Falconer has a great series about a SBS operative that gets little love, but deserves all the praises.

Rebecca, I am pleased to meet you. I am enjoying your blog and your reviews. I like the way you review and the kind of comments you make. I don’t like reviews that sound like book reports, but tell me if the writing is strong and the characters are believable.
I know you like war genre. Have you ever read Winds of War by Herman Wouk? It is my all time favorite WW2 novel. It is also, I am told, very accurate in the historical portrayal.
